HAPPY MUTANT SOUND - Gangpol und Mit |
Tuesday, 29 November 2005 |

Everybody claims to mix sounds; Gangpol is definitely not everybody. This man is sample addicted: his sounds range from quiet shifting melodies, galactical landscapes, pathological lyricism and voice synthesis to full speed digital toy music, cheap keyboard arrangements, chip tunes, lullabies and lo-fi dance floor attempts. To talk about the French E.T. duet Gangpol and Mit is to try and describe the indescribable. But there's more: the other side of Gangpol and Mit is the visual world they create. In three years they have developed a cheap, playful, complex and always imprevisible universe that mixes music and video projection. These past two years, G.U.M has opened their universe to the the European electronic event circuit. Their two albums, Disque compact, pièces détachées and "Tournent en rond" are distributed worldwide by Mangedisque. But enough talking, since the only way to understand it all is to experience it yourself: a free MP3 pack is available on their website. Enjoy. by Yvan Rodic
